5 Ways You Can ‘Fix’ Your Smile … And We Can Help

Makeover shows have become so popular that they could be considered their own genre of television. And these shows exist for practically anything you can think of.

If you are into fashion, there are shows for that.

If you are into home improvement, you can watch professionals renovate a room, a backyard, or an entire house.

If you are into cars, you can watch old ones get restored or new ones get upgrades.

But what about smiles?

If you would like a smile makeover, we don’t suggest calling a television producer and hoping they pick you. Instead, we welcome you to schedule an appointment at our dentist office in Fredericksburg, VA.

Our dentists, Drs. Lloyd Moss Jr. and Lloyd Moss III, both have completed hours of continuing education in cosmetic and restorative dentistry above and beyond their dental education. (Both are graduates of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, by the way.)

To get started with a consultation, call (540) 369-4926 or contact us online.

Ways We Can ‘Fix’ Your Smile

We can’t tell you how to feel about your teeth or about your smile. Our goal is to give you a smile that you are happy to share with the world.

We have seen how changing a patient’s smile can make him or her feel more confident. It can make people more willing to smile, whether that’s talking to us in our office or in a picture to post on social media.

From our experience, we also know some of the common concerns that patients have about their smiles. Our training means we have the knowledge and the skills to address those concerns, too.

With that in mind, here are five ways we could help you feel better about your smile.

★ You have a gap in your smile.

The technical term for this is diastema.

This frequently occurs between the teeth at the front of someone’s smile. However, these gaps can occur between any two teeth. Some people have multiple gaps in different parts of their smile.

If this is something you would like to change, one option would be Invisalign®. This is an orthodontic treatment that uses clear aligners to gently push your teeth to change their positions.

For smaller gaps, dental veneers and dental bonding are other ways you may fill in the spaces between your teeth.

★ Your teeth are dark or yellow.

It’s normal for your teeth to look darker as you get older. Think about how many cups of coffee or glasses of tea you’ve had by the time you are 20, 30, or 40 years old. Try to count how many pieces of pizza, pie, or cake you’ve eaten by the time you celebrate your 50th or 60th birthday.

This will help you understand why your pearly whites may not be so white anymore.

The good news is you can remove those stains from your smile. Professional teeth whitening has helped hundreds, if not thousands, of patients in our office.

★ Your teeth are chipped or broken.

How many of these things have you done?

◻ opened something with your teeth

◻ chewed on ice

◻ bitten into hard candy, nuts, or pretzels

◻ bitten into an unpopped kernel of popcorn or the pit of an olive that you did not expect to be there

◻ been hit in the face with a ball or elbow while playing sports

Any of those things can lead to chipped or broken teeth.

You may repair a chipped tooth with dental bonding. A dental crown may be a better option if you have a broken tooth. Or a set of dental veneers could help your repair multiple chipped teeth at the same time.

★ Your teeth are crooked.

The solutions for crooked teeth overlap with services we have mentioned above.

Invisalign orthodontic care can be used to shift the positions of your teeth so they are straight and parallel. Likewise, a set of porcelain dental veneers can give you the appearance of a straight, natural smile.

★ You have a combination of issues.

Our smile makeovers can work whether you need to fix one problem or you would like to fix multiple issues at the same time.

To find out which of our services will work for you, call the office of Drs. Moss and Moss at (540) 369-4926 or contact us online.
