Don’t Go Another Day Without Teeth

Imagine what life would be like if you lost all your teeth.

How would that affect you? How would you eat? How would you smile when someone asked you to pose for a picture? (Would you smile at all?)

For tens of millions of Americans, this is not something they have to imagine. It’s something they live with every day.

Our experience at our dentist office in Fredericksburg, VA, suggests that a vast majority of people prefer to have teeth or to look like they have teeth if nothing else.

Dentures will accomplish the look of a smile, but that isn’t really the same as replacing your teeth. Lloyd F. Moss Jr., D.D.S. & Lloyd F. Moss III, D.D.S. want you to have more than have a natural-looking smile. We want to help you regain your ability to eat the foods that you love, too.

And it starts with digital technology.

3D Digital Scanning

We want our patients to have the best experience possible when they visit our practice for dental care. One recent addition to our office is a good example of that.

The Planmeca ProMax 3D Mid CBCT (cone beam cone beam computed tomography) allows us to diagnose the health of a patient’s teeth and jaws in greater detail than we can get from X-rays alone.

Cone beam technology is based on the same technology used in CAT scan machines. The cone beam scanners work by taking hundreds of images of your teeth and supporting structures in a matter of minutes.

Those images are assembled through a computer program to create a three-dimensional digital model. This is a valuable tool to help us assess the condition your jawbone. It also helps us plan the placement of dental implants where they will provide the most benefit for you.

Dental implants are prosthetic roots. Like roots, implants are anchored in your jawbone, and they provide the support and stability for other teeth replacements.

Someone who needs to replace a complete row of teeth could receive a series of implants to support a set of dentures. People with healthy jaws may be able to have a set of temporary dentures placed on the same day as their implants.

Same-Day Smile

We call this procedure Same-Day Smile. Before we know if you are a good candidate for this particular procedure, it’s important that you visit us for a consultation.

In the past, the traditional approach to dental implants has gone as follows.

You have your implants placed in your jaw. You wait for months as your jaw heals. In that time, your jawbone will grow around the implants make they more secure and stable.

Once you have healed, you will receive a set of replacement teeth to give you back your smile along with the bite force to eat the foods that you love.

Candidates who are eligible for Same-Day Smile can start enjoying some of the benefits of implant-retained dentures on the same day that they receive their implants.

During this procedure, a set up temporary replacement teeth will be attached to your dental implants.

You won’t achieve your full bite force right away, but you also won’t have to walk around with an empty smile as your mouth heals. You will notice your bite force becoming stronger with time.

But the time you are ready for your permanent replacement teeth, you will have a lot more confidence about what is possible with your implant-retained dentures.

Long-Term Benefits

With Same-Day Smile, you get the best of both worlds.

You don’t have to walk around with a mouth of missing teeth one day longer than necessary. You regain some of your biting and chewing ability right away, and that ability will only get stronger as your mouth heals in the weeks following your implant placement procedure.

If you or someone you know is thinking about getting dentures, please call our dentists to schedule a consultation. We want you to understand how dental implants can make your dentures much more effects as teeth replacements, now and for the rest of your life.
