Lloyd F. Moss Jr., D.D.S., F.A.G.D.

Dr. Lloyd F. Moss, Jr. was born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Hampden – Sydney College and his Doctorate in Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in 1978. Dr. Moss completed a General Practice residency at the University of Michigan, in affiliation with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Moss established his practice in 1980.

Dr. Moss is an active member in a number of professional organizations: American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry – Fellowship, Rappahannock Valley Dental Association – Past President, Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and Commonwealth Study Club.

Dr. Moss has devoted his professional career to all aspects of general practice with special interests in the treatment of periodontal disease, temporomandibular disorders, esthetic and reconstructive dentistry, and dental sleep medicine. To keep abreast of the latest developments in general dentistry, Dr. Moss always greatly surpasses the continuing education requirements of Virginia. His continuing education has taken him to some of the most prestigious dental education centers in the world, such as the L. D. Pankey Institute, the Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and the Nash Institute for Dental Learning.

Dr. Moss has been voted by his peers as a TOP DENTIST IN VIRGINIA every year since 2010!

Dr. Moss’ hobbies include fly fishing, photography, golf, tennis, reading and most importantly, time with his family. He has been married to his wonderful wife Karen since 1978. They have 3 children and a son-in-law: Dr. Lloyd F. Moss III, Jane Moss Tinder and Logan Tinder, and Robert Harrison Moss.

Dr. Lloyd F. Moss III joined his father’s practice in June of 2012. He graduated from the University of Richmond in 2005 where he played NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis. Dr. Moss was captain of the tennis team both his junior and senior year and competed in the NCAA Division I Tennis Championship Tournament three of his four years in school. After graduating, he worked in the Admissions Office at Woodberry Forest School as the Assistant Director of Admissions and Assistant Tennis Coach. Dr. Moss thoroughly enjoyed his time at Woodberry before making the decision to pursue dentistry.

He earned his Post Baccalaureate Health Sciences Certificate from Virginia Commonwealth University prior to his entrance into the Doctor of Dental Surgery program at Virginia Commonwealth University. While attending dental school, Dr. Moss became very involved and committed to community health care. He became a student coordinator for the nationally renowned Mission of Mercy Projects and earned the Mission of Mercy Award of Excellence for outstanding and extraordinary contributions to the Mission and Vision of the M.O.M. Project. Dr. Moss was also the recipient of the M.O.M. Volunteer Award from the Virginia Dental Association for outstanding volunteerism and service to the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia and to the profession of Dentistry.

In addition to the aforementioned awards, Dr. Moss received two distinguished awards at graduation: The American Academy of Craniofacial Pain Outstanding Student Award for having demonstrated exceptional interest and academic achievement in the discipline of Craniofacial Pain, and The International College of Dentists, USA Section, Leadership Award for the dental student who has long recognized the demonstration of leadership during his years of dental study on many fronts such as: Student Government, the American Student Dental Association, research activities, and future leadership potential.

Dr. Moss thoroughly enjoys being part of the family practice as he provides all aspects of General Dentistry no matter the age. He has achieved many continuing education hours involving implants, root canals, extractions and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Moss is a member of the Spear Faculty Club, which means he is dedicated to learning about and providing the best possible dental care. His love for oral health, both comprehensive and preventive, allows him to provide excellent care to existing and new patients!
