I do what I do because my entire family is in the healthcare business and so taking care of people was what I was brought up to do. That was our purpose is contribute to your fellow man and I chose the field of dentistry because I remember growing up my father was a physician and he was gone all the time. Middle of the night, house calls and all that and when it got to my turn to decide I decided I wanted a little more family time so I chose dentistry over medicine and it was the best decision I’ve ever made and been doing it for 46 years and never looked back.
The most rewarding aspect for me is the relationships that we have with our patients. I’m at the point now where I’m actually seeing the third generation of families that have been with me since 1979 and the staff relationships, the patient relationships are what keep keep me doing what I’m doing because it’s it’s the most rewarding part taking care of people that you that you treat like your own family and and you understand from them that they truly appreciate what you’re doing. I graduated from Hampton-Sydney College here in Virginia which is a small all-male school and after that went to the Medical College of Virginia which is now Virginia Commonwealth University.
Did my four years of dental school there. After that I went to the University of Michigan and did a general practice residency there in Ann Arbor and after that came back to town and set up my own private practice in the 1979s.
